WRONG PATTERNS OF THINKING (STINKIN' THINKIN')

I have been watching a stink bug that got inside my bird feeder go round and round the inside of it trapped inside...so it thinks. There are several openings for it to escape but it just stays at the top of the feeder circling around it. It may just end up dying in there!

It caused me to consider how we do the same thing in our lives. We get stuck going round and round in circles not accomplishing anything, not having victory and certainly not living in the freedom that Jesus Christ came to this earth to give us! The freedom is right there in front of us but we don’t see it because we are not letting the Holy Spirit guide us to it. We get stuck in wrong patterns of thinking. We live by our own preconceived ideas or false teaching we’ve heard. But we have to surrender everything we know and understood to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and be transformed and renewed by the word of God with the Holy Spirit’s instruction.

Isn’t that what the apostle Paul did when he went into the wilderness for three years to learn from the Holy Spirit instead of relying on the teaching he received from the best Jewish school and most knowledgeable Rabbi? He wrote to the Corinthian church that he did not come to them with eloquence or human wisdom and he resolved to know nothing except Christ Jesus and Him crucified. He came not with persuasive words but a demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s power in him. Paul’s teaching was not of men or his own thoughts and ideas about God. Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 2 that God‘s wisdom was revealed by the Holy Spirit. “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.” (v13)

When you find yourself stuck in wrong patterns of thinking and not gaining victory in your life seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding.

Romans 12:2
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
